Bio
Friends of this journal will be able to read the unpublished novel All We Ever Wanted (Was Everything) by Jennifer de Guzman (me). Please friend this journal and leave a comment on the public post to be added.

I will post one chapter a week of this 33-chapter novel. Because I spent two years writing this novel, I feel my time and efforts must be worth something, I will accept Paypal donations from those who read it.

The chapters of the novel vary in voice; some are in first person, others in third. This proved to be a liability when I approached agents with the novel. A few expressed asked for further samples and then turned it down because of this narrative approach.

I know it is somewhat gauche to explain away the flaws of one's work, but I feel I should give some background information. This novel was completed in 2001, when I was twenty-three years old. I feel much of it is melodramatic, overwrought, and unoriginal; my inexperience shows in my bouncing point-of-view and sometimes maladroit choice of language. It also shows a preoccupation with drugs and sex that I don't quite understand. However, there are parts that I still admire. Because I think the work must be taken as a whole for the admirable sections to make any sense, I've decided to share the entire novel. All We Ever Wanted (Was Everything) is a tangled mess of science fiction, fantasy, fiction about the social underground (which I have never been a part of), and my influences at the time, which obviously included cyberpunk novels. The Heinlein novel The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress was what inspired me to write it in the first place, so I must give it credit.

Thank you for reading. I hope I do not wince too much as I unearth this buried work, and I hope you will get some enjoyment from it.
